About Us

In today's mobile society, it is not uncommon for many families to find themselves having to settle into a new area. It can be an uphill struggle trying to sort out a new life, especially when you are unfamiliar with the country or the language.
One of the hardest aspects can be establishing contact with other people.

"Newcomers" was born when women who had themselves experienced the challenges of long distance moves decided to help each other. Today it is a world-wide organisation.

Belonging to Newcomers means immediate contact with other people who can empathise with the challenges of those first few months. Some of us have moved many times!

In Newcomers you will find a warm welcome, a wealth of knowledge to help you find your feet and many different ways of enjoying yourself!

The Toronto Newcomers Club aims to put families new to Toronto in touch with one another in a variety of informal settings.

New members are introduced at the monthly coffee mornings where they can meet existing members and learn about the many interest groups available. These groups allow members to get together while doing something they enjoy. Venues can range from outdoor areas, cultural centres, and restaurants to homes of individual members.

Groups vary in size and meet in the day or evening, monthly or weekly. Activities are based on members' talents, wishes and the opportunities which exist within the city and throughout the surrounding countryside.

If you would like to come to a session, you would simply phone the host or co-ordinator and let them know of your interest in attending.

Some activities include spouses, and there are, from time to time, special events where the entire membership is welcome.
