Giving Back

New Circles is an agency, driven by volunteers, which assists thousands of individuals new to Canada to access the support they need. The clothing program provides qualifying families with access to free gently used and new clothing, shoes, accessories and other basic necessities. Their department store GLOW – Gently Loved Outfits to Wear – strives to create a retail shopping experience for those who use their service.

New Circles always needs people to sort and display clothing, help in the store, and work with clients in groups or one-on-one. The TNC has committed to help staff the clothing store on Tuesdays. New Circles assures you of a warm welcome and gratitude for any time you can contribute.

Each year we partner up through New Circles to provide a holiday surprise for a newly immigrated family. Many of these families are not prepared for our weather and are assimilating to our culture.  We begin collecting for their needs beginning in November and present to them during the holidays in December.  Look for further info in the newsletter to participate.

In the TNC, we are all newcomers to Toronto. Although some of us have been here much longer than others, most of us do not have family close by. It’s family that we would most likely be turning to in a time of need so let’s be each other’s family. If you are in a situation where you would normally be in touch with your family, please lean on us. If you know someone who might need support, we would like to help if we can. It may be a chat over coffee, exploring the TTC with a buddy, meals/errands in the event of illness, research assistance from longer-standing members, or a phone call to chat. We’re here to help!
